May 10, 2010 – National Grid, an energy company that supplies power to more than 3 million customers in New England, has committed to buying half the electricity generated by the Cape Wind offshore wind farm.
Cape Wind Associates announced the deal on Friday, less than 10 days after the Cape Wind project was approved by federal regulators as the first offshore wind farm in the US.
The wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
