Boulder, CO—Imagine Nation Books Ltd./Books Are Fun and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a voluntarily recalled about 46,000 “Fly Dragonfly” (also called “Queen Bee”) Remote-Controlled Helicopters. The CPSC announced the recall on May 12, 2010 over a fire and burn hazard the toy poses to consumers.

The remote-controlled helicopter’s rechargeable battery inside the toy can overheat, causing the helicopters to ignite and posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. So far, 49 incidents of the helicopters overheating have been reported and six of the incidents resulted in flames emitting from the toy. One report included minor property damage, but none of the reports have included injuries.

The CPSC stated, “This recall involves the ‘Fly Dragonfly’ (also called ‘Queen Bee’) remote-controlled helicopters. The helicopters are black and yellow plastic, measure about 19 inches long by 6 ½ inches high. The helicopters have a rounded front yellow cockpit with bee decals and a narrow black plastic tail assembly. They were sold with a remote-control unit and a separate charger. ‘Fly Dragonfly’ and SKU #51727 are printed on the packaging.”

The recalled toys were sold at book/gift fairs at schools, hospital and office buildings across the U.S. The toys were sold from August 2009 through January 2010 for about $38.

Consumers are advised to stop using the helicopters immediately, and contact Imagine Nation Books Ltd/Books Are Fun to receive a full refund.

For further information, consumers can contact Imagine Nation Books Ltd./Books are Fun at (800) 917-0213 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, visit their Web site at www.booksarefun.com/helicopter.php.
