/EINPresswire.com/ The Kings Inn in Mill Hill, Blackburn is making history by becoming the world’s first vaping pub. The pub has partnered with The Electronic Cigarette Company and Totally Wicked E-Liquid to bring vaping into the pubs.
The Electronic Cigarette, or e-cig as they are commonly called, has gained popularity over the last two years with many smokers preferring the electronic device to their traditional cigarettes. Because of the way that they work, e cigs are not affected by the smoking ban which was introduced to the UK in October 2007. The smoking ban has resulted in a severe, steady fall in trade in an already struggling market, with as many as 2,365 pubs closing in 2009 alone, leaving 24,000 people unemployed. TECC and Totally Wicked are hoping that the Electronic Cigarette will give the pub trade a much needed boost, and see the return of many locals who have chosen to smoke in their own home opposed to being shunted outside onto the pavement.
The Kings Inn is a family run establishment operating under new management. Landlady Jane Healy and daughter Roxanne have high hopes for the world’s first ‘Vaping Pub’. Although there are many establishments that already allow the use of electronic cigarettes, the Kings Inn is the first to rent out electronic cigarettes, as well as sell them. Having been provided with all the equipment by The Electronic Cigarette Company and Totally Wicked, the Kings In is renting out e-cigs for a £15 refundable deposit, allowing users to only pay £1 for the cartridge, as well as selling the TECC Titan and the Totally Wicked Tornado for £44.99 and £49.99 respectively.
Landlady Jane Healy decided to start promoting vaping in her pub having been a recreational user of electronic cigarettes herself. She said that “The electronic cigarette has been a big hit so far. We’ve had plenty of people renting them out to give them a go, as well as seasoned users trying out new flavours and e-cigs before they purchase the whole kit. Trade has been picking up since we introduced them last week, and with the first Kings Inn vapers meeting planned for next Sunday, we are hoping to bring a new future for a pub which may have had to otherwise close.”
TECC and Totally Wicked will be holding the first vapers meeting at the pub on Sunday 23rd of May. Jason Cropper, managing director of The Electronic Cigarette Company and Totally Wicked will be introducing the product range, and has offered to buy anyone who brings this article with them a drink. Mr Cropper said that “We are planning to hold regular vapers meetings at the pub to promote not only the product, but also the pub and the whole concept of vaping pubs. This is a fantastic opportunity for all involved, and we are very enthusiastic about rolling out the concept across the UK.”
There are also rumours that Totally Wicked will be unveiling their latest product at the event, which is yet to be announced.
Anyone wishing to attend the event can sign up for the Electronic Cigarette Company’s free email newsletter to receive additional details and a confirmed date. Ample parking is available for those who wish to drive, and the pub is a short walk from the Mill Hill train station. The postcode is BB2 4PL and directions to the pub can be obtained from Google Maps.
