Driver in custody after hit and run accident death

A driver in a hit and run accident that resulted in the death of a teen has admitted to drinking before driving.

Venus (WiredPRNews.com) – A Venus man involved in a hit and run accident Sunday that resulted in the death of a teen has admitted to drinking beforehand. As reported by CBS 11 News, Donald Cassell, who is in custody after the accident that killed 17 year-old Brandon Simmons while he and his friend were riding bikes, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to render aid.

Cassell is quoted in the report as stating of his actions, “The hardest part isn’t the time I am going to face in prison…the hardest part is knowing I am responsible for the death of another person… I know that won’t bring him back but I honestly apologize to the family.”
