/EINPresswire.com/ North Carolina – May 24, 2010 — On Friday May 7, 2010 Access Family Services “AFS” was notified by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services that we successfully passed all phases of the CABHA process and became one of the first agencies in North Carolina to earn official certification as a CABHA. En route to earning CABHA status, AFS completed the desk review, site verification review and panel interviews to earn CABHA status. Also of note, Access Family Services was one of the first two agencies to earn CABHA designation in North Carolina. Access Family Services provides a continuum of mental health services to citizens throughout North Carolina.
CABHA or “Critical Access Behavioral Healthcare Agency” is a new designation for providers of community based mental health services that requires that providers demonstrate adherence and practice of clinical, training and quality standards. In addition, CABHA certified agencies must provide a comprehensive continuum of care for the consumers it serves.
