Background ( Preamble)
I would like to bring to the attention that both Laos and Vietnam are two separated sovereign states, with full independence, sovereignty, integrity and self determination in shaping and forging their future. As a result, the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Statue in Laos is seen as a clear violation of the national sovereignty and integrity of Laos. Although Ho Chi Minh has passed away, the repressive and genocide regime and ideology that he founded in 1930 is still prevalent today. Ho’s plan to establish a greater Vietnam by taking over its neighbours, is slowly being implemented and carried out today by the current puppet Lao party leaders to the Hanoi government. The paper “Vietnam’s Tay Tien expansion into Laos and Cambodia” presented at the National Conference in 2007 by Michael Mike clearly outlines the neo-colonizing of Laos.
Petition:
As the President of Human Rights Watch Laos, I would like to appeal to H.E. Mr Choumaly Sayasone, President of Lao PDR, to cease the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Statue in Laos. The memorial is a symbol of atrocities and oppression to the forefathers of the Lao people.
Therefore, I would like to ask and urge the Lao people and others of all nationalities to assist in the protection of the national sovereignty and integrity of the country, Laos.
Please sign this petition online to appeal to H.E. Mr Choumaly Sayasone, President of Lao PDR in stopping the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Statue on Lao soil.
