Auburn Hills, MI—Chrysler, in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is recalling approximately 600,000 vehicles due to potential hazards associated with them. The automotive recall will affect certain Jeep Wranglers, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans, according to a Monday, June 7, 2010 USA Today report.

Reports indicated 288,968 Jeep Wranglers, model years 2006 through 2010, were subject to one of Chrysler’s recalls.

An defect in which the vehicle’s front inner fender liners have the potential to rub against the brake lines prompted Chrysler to issue the product safety recall.

The issue could establish the grounds for a possible brake fluid leak, which in turn could result in the “partial loss of breaks”.

Auburn Hills-based Chrysler also recalled 284,831 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans due to fire risks the vehicles may pose. Only 2008 and 2009 model years are affected by the recall.

The recall was prompted after it was discovered that the hinge of a sliding door could corrode the insulation on the wiring. The flaw could potentially pose a fire hazard.

No injuries or adverse events have been reported in connection with the recall. Chrysler will alert all owners so they may schedule a repair for the malfunctioning vehicles.

Consumers with additional questions may contact the automobile manufacturer at (800) 853-1403.
