Paris, TX—Campbell Soup Company, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), is recalling approximately 15,000 pounds of “SpaghettiOs with Meatballs”. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall on Thursday, June 17, 2010, due possible under-processing in certain units.

According to the USDA, “The products subject to recall bear the establishment number “EST 4K,” as well as a “Use By” date between June 2010 and December 2011 ink-jetted on the bottom of each can. These products were manufactured between December 2008 and June 2010 and distributed to retail establishments nationwide.”

The following varieties of SpaghettiOs are included in the product safety recall:

• “SpaghettiOs” A to Z with Meatballs—14.75 ounce cans

Product Code: 4N

• “SpaghettiOs” Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars)—14.75 ounce cans

The recall was listed as Class 1, which the USDA defines as “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death”.
