Stadium classics, classic rock focus of this year’s video game soundtrack
July 27, 2010 — Madden NFL 11 is taking a step back in time with its football soundtrack, focusing more on “crowd favorites” and “stadium classics” as opposed to introducing new musical talent to the legion of Madden fanatics.
“The term ‘Madden Music’ has come to mean music that matches the intensity of the video game,” says said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing for EA. “This year, we wanted the music to not only define the game, but also the stadium experience. These are the classics that consistently bring NFL crowds to their feet. It’s an exciting new audio direction for Madden NFL, one that we know all fans will respond to.”
After more than 10 years of showcasing new talent like Franz Ferdinand, Bullet For My Valentine, B.o.B., Good Charlotte and OK GO, Madden NFL 11 is forsaking youth for the music that’s been playing on the radio for the good part of a generation. Going for stadium authenticity, the Madden NFL 11 soundtrack features classics by AC/DC, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne and Guns N’ Roses.
While crushing their opponents, gamers can soak in original recordings of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle”, Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” in addition to covers of “Rock N Roll Part 2” and “We Will Rock You.”
In addition to classic rock, the game also features the official team fight songs of the Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins and more.
