Charlotte, NC—Husqvarna Professional Products Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), voluntarily recalled approximately 1,700 Husqvarna Riding Lawn Tractors due to fire hazards associated with them. The CPSC announced the product safety recall on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

While no injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled product, the Charlotte-based manufacturer reportedly received 53 reports of fuel line damage.

The recall was issued after it was discovered that the fuel line, located on the rear-mounted fuel tank, was too long. The defective fuel line thus has the potential to touch moving parts of the equipment while it is being used, leaving consumers at risk of burns or other fire-related injuries.

According to the CPSC, “This recall involves gas-powered Husqvarna riding lawn tractors designed for residential use. The lawn tractor’s model and serial numbers are printed on an identification plate located underneath the tractor seat. Models and serials numbers included in the recall are: GTH27V52LS lawn tractors with model numbers 96043009100 and 96043009900, with serial numbers 010810A00XXXX through 05061000XXXX.”

Authorized Husqvarna dealers throughout the nation sold the risky riding lawn tractors between January 2010 and May 2010. The product has a value of about $3,000. The product was manufactured in the United States.

Consumers are advised to cease use of the riding tractors and contact Husqvarna toll-free at (877) 257-6921 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET to schedule a complimentary repair. For additional information concerning the recall, consumers may also feel free to visit the company’s Web site at www.husqvarna.us.july2010alert.
