Tarp Giant Tarps Plus helps with supplying poly tarps for the Pakistan flood victims.

The horrific flooding in Pakistan that has already claimed more than a thousand lives has left the country desperately in need of aid. This aid includes blankets, medicines, tents and poly tarps. The most pressing need, according to aid agencies, is clean drinking water and medical help as well as shelter.

The floods have submerged villages leading to millions of people displaced and with no shelter. In the Sindh province more than a million people have been evacuated leading to a desperate shortage of shelter, blankets, tarpaulin, and medical supplies.

The Royal Air Force based in Oxfordshire is flying over 500 tents to Pakistan. These tents made, with heavy duty tarps, will provide shelter for over 2500 people. They take 30 minutes to erect and are designed to withstand very heavy rainfall and also the cold weather that is making life even more difficult for so many people.

Other relief agencies are providing over 126,000 plastic based poly tarps, blankets and other supplies to the residents of parts of Pakistan in order that the medical supplies that are also being shipped over are at least kept dry and therefore functioning and the people can keep warm and dry.

The poly tarps also help to form shelters that are vitally waterproof in preparation for the further rains that are feared to come. Many people are using the sheeting to try to protect the few things that they have managed to salvage from the flooding, including food.

Fears of the spread of cholera are rising as the water continues to swamp villages. It is clear that more aid is needed in the form of medicine, blankets, medical aid and protection for supplies. As the crisis continues and shows no signs of abating the world needs to continue to show it’s support for Pakistan in it’s time of need.
