Fort Worth, Tex. – Bice’s has a special offer for Fort Worth-area people tired of heat waves and recessions – free roses, with only one small catch. Lucky recipients will be asked to keep one and give the rest away to others in a series of random acts of kindness.

“Each year this is our most popular in-store event,” Bice’s florist president Keith Riewe said. “We get a lot of great stories from our clients about how they have surprised friends – and total strangers – with free roses, and that confirms for us that this is a great thing to do. I wish we had been writing down all those stories; we would have the makings of a great book.”

Riewe said good neighbors from throughout the Fort Worth area who come to Bice’s location at 650 Bedford Euless Rd. in Hurst also will get some additional perks. Bice’s will award gift cards valued at up to $50 at random throughout the day.

Also, each person will be an instant winner of flowers, a gift item or discount on a future purchase in the form of a Lucky Stems game piece, a popular year-around feature at Bice’s. Visitors also will receive Bice’s new flowers and gift catalogue.

FTD(R) Good Neighbor Day(R) is sponsored nationally by FTD Florists, a leading floral wire service founded 100 years ago to enable people to send flowers to others in distant locations through a national network of participating florists. Bice’s is a Top 100 FTD florist, which ranks it among an elite group of florists in the United States.

Riewe says the 500 dozen roses Bice’s is giving away potentially can reach as many as 6,000 people. “We suspect some people don’t give them all away, but we also know thousands of people benefit directly,” Riewe said. “That’s a refreshing thought as we move into cool fall weather after a long, hot summer.”
