Guests Include Judy Blume, Meg Cabot, Ellen Hopkins, RIF CEO Carol Rasco, and More
(Los Gatos, CA) – In support of intellectual freedom, StorySnoops.com will be running an interview series during the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week, September 25-October 2. Guests will include blogging librarians Abby the Librarian, Mighty Little Librarian, and Ms. Yingling Reads, plus Reading Is Fundamental CEO Carol Rasco. Highly esteemed authors Ellen Hopkins, Meg Cabot, and Judy Blume will also be featured.
StorySnoops.com provides children’s book reviews from a parent’s perspective, with easy-to-use search tools that guide parents and their readers to fiction that resonates with their specific interests and experiences. Those who already have a book in mind can quickly look it up to learn more about its content and make informed selections.
Information provided for each book includes: The Story — a plot summary, and The Scoop — a well-balanced recap of the content. Every book review is written by one of the company’s four founders, who have collectively read all of the children’s books on the site. A list of Content Keywords accompanies each review to help communicate the gist of significant subject matter. Relevant details are presented, including genre, awards, publisher’s recommended age, main character gender, and series information. Parents and children are also invited to comment and share their thoughts about more than eight hundred books on the site.
“We are thrilled to host interviews with these honored guests who are kind enough to share their thoughts on the practice of challenging books. StorySnoops.com was founded on the principle that young readers should have unlimited access to literature. Ultimately, we hope that our service encourages young people to discover the full range of titles that they will enjoy,” said the website’s Co-Founder, Shannon Knowlton.
Launched in May 2010, StorySnoops.com is the brainchild of four moms who are passionate about reading. New book reviews are added daily to the comprehensive selection of fiction for tweens and teens. Parents can also follow the site on Facebook and Twitter.
