Sept. 14, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ — According to a new food safety survey of more than 1,700 FDA and USDA officials, 38 percent of those surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that “public health has been harmed by agency practices that defer to business interests.”
One in 4 of those involved in the survey, which was conducted by the Iowa State University Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology, said they have personally experienced “instances where public health has been harmed by business withholding food safety information from agency investigators.”
A majority of respondents said that interference had decreased under the Obama administration but that the improvement was slight.
