Haven Farms utilizes Georgia State Renewable Energy Grant to partially subsidize 100KW Solar Farm for Poultry and Cattle Operation
Atlanta/Calhoun, GA, September 16, 2010: Hannah Solar, GEFA, and Haven Farms will be co-hosting a “Farm of the Future” media event on Monday, September 20th, from 12 noon – 2pm at Haven Farms in Calhoun, GA. Attendees will include US Congressmen Phil Gingrey and Tom Graves, State Representative Rick Jasperse, and the Chairman of the Georgia Public Service Commission, Bubba MacDonald as well as local farmers interested in renewable energy solutions. A barbeque lunch will be served at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Hannah Solar recently completed the installation of the 100KW Solar System (approximately 440 ground-mounted solar panels) on Haven Farms. It is one of the largest solar farms in the state of Georgia and will help the farmer offset electricity costs and generate profits by selling electricity back to the Grid.
Haven Farms and Little Haven Farms are owned and operated by Brian and Hope Grogan. They are both poultry and cattle farmers. Haven Farms was one of fourteen award recipients of a Georgia State Renewable Energy Grant for Solar Photovoltaic which they were awarded in December of 2009.
