London – A new study suggests women’s risks of developing endometrial cancer can be significantly cut by exercise. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), researchers found that physical activity can decrease risks by 30 percent.
Lead author of the study Steven Moore of the National Cancer Institute, is quoted by the AP as stating of the findings, “We already knew that maintaining a healthy body weight is an important way to reduce the risk of womb cancer, but our study showed that physical activity has a protective effect of its own.”
Sara Hiom, director of health information at Cancer Research U.K., who is not connected to the study, is further quoted as stating of the research, “This new research provides clear evidence that the more active women are — and the less time they spend sitting down — the less likely they are to develop womb cancer.”
