Expense Reduction Analysts and Elite Financial Communications Group Release Results of 2010 Florida Business Survey
Florida Business Leaders Share Perspective on Anticipated Job Growth, Expansion Strategies and Future Outlook
Expense Reduction Analysts-Florida Region (ERA), in collaboration with Elite Financial Communications Group (EFCG), today released the results of its Florida Business Survey. This inaugural survey poll, to be conducted annually, sought to provide greater perspective on the perceived opportunities and challenges confronting Florida business owners and executive leaders, as well as the strategies they are employing to position their companies for sustainability and growth in the coming year.
Among the findings, the polling revealed that 57% of survey respondents are optimistic about the future of Florida’s business climate as it relates to the growth of their business in 2011 and beyond. Moreover, the results show that 41.5% of responding business owners plans to hire 1-5 new employees in the coming year, with 43.3% expecting no material changes to their current workforce levels.
When survey respondents were asked what strategies they intend to engage to grow their business in 2011 and beyond, the top five most frequently mentioned were:
1) Increase advertising and marketing spend
2) Integrate Search Engine Optimization (SEO), social networking and email marketing into their marketing plans
3) Expand geographic service areas/expand internationally
4) Introduce new products and services
5) Outsource more non-core functions

Don Harris, Area Director for ERA-North Florida Region, stated, “While we are still receiving mixed signals across the country as to whether the recovery from the recession has indeed begun, it is clear from our survey results that Florida business owners are actively engaged in planning to refine, or redefine as appropriate, their fundamental business practices and growth strategies on a moving forward basis. While job growth is anticipated and optimism prevails, business leaders also expressed concerns about the state and national economy, the political climate and the lack of growth capital available to small businesses.”
The data for the 2010 Florida Business Survey was collected via email over a two month period from a total polling audience of more then 500 business leaders operating Florida-based companies of all sizes and industry focus.
