Boston, MA—A Quincy man was hospitalized after he complained about the back-up caused by two motorists, who were involved in a rear-end collision and were exchanging information. Police arrested one of the motorists for allegedly stabbing the Quincy man after making the complaint, as reported by Boston.com.

Colum J. Flaherty, 62, was driving a 1995 GMC Jimmy southbound on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester when he was rear-ended by a 63-year-old North Reading man who was driving a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, just before Freeport Street, according to State Police.

Flaherty and the North Reading man were exchanging information after the wreck, when a 54-year-old Quincy man, who was driving a 2010 Honda pulled in front of the two cars to voice his grievances about the traffic delay.

Flaherty and the Quincy man became involved in an altercation, when Flaherty pulled out a knife and stabbed the Quincy man.

The Quincy man was rushed to Boston Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries

State Police arrested Flaherty at the scene and subsequently charged him with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. Flaherty is being held at the State Police barracks in South Boston pending his bail.

The North Reading driver was not identified.

The road rage incident is under investigation. More charges may follow.
