Baker County, FL—Two people were killed and two others were injured in a violent two-vehicle crash Tuesday night, Nov. 16, 2010. The double-fatality SUV accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 90 and County Road 123, according to information provided by the Florida Times-Union.

Reports indicated 36-year-old Christopher M. Wheeler was driving a Jeep SUV when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Wheeler’s Jeep subsequently T-boned a Ford SUV, driven by 33-year-old Ardis D. Paige.

Four people in the Ford were ejected on impact. Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Leeper said the occupants of the Ford were unrestrained at the time.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were dispatched to the scene to aid those injured in the SUV collision. Twenty-year-old Christopher V. Jefferson, a passenger in the Ford, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Jefferson was the brother of Baker County High student Milton Oshay Johnson, who was paralyzed from the neck down after suffering a vertebrae fracture at football practice in 2008.

Ardis Paige was transported to Fraser Hospital, where his injuries also tragically proved fatal. Two more passengers in the Ford, 20-year-old Delano Lee Paige and 17-year-old Marquis Page were rushed to Shands Jacksonville hospital after the wreck.

While the extent of the younger Paige’s injuries remained unspecified, Wheeler and his 20-year-old passenger, Joshua R. Clough did not suffer severe injuries and refused medical attention.

As of Wednesday, no charges had been filed in connection with the deadly Florida SUV collision. Investigations continue.
