Sebelius Tackles Health Care with New Governors

Dec. 7, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ – With the elections of many new governors last month, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is already hard at work to convince newly-elected governors to implement part of the Obama Administration’s health care reform package. Secretary Sebelius is even reaching out to Republican victors, many of whom campaigned with the repeal of the health care bill in mind.

Secretary Sebelius stressed the need for state and federal cooperation in the successful implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and the support of both parties will be necessary. Governor-Elect Sam Brownback of Kansas has already spoken out against the bill without providing specific details as to how he will oppose certain measures.

Other governors were more optimistic about the Obama Administration’s new attitude towards the bill. Alabama Governor-Elect Robert Bentley said that he has noticed a change in the President’s tone in his willingness to work with the states on this important topic of debate.
