Dec. 9, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ – Mass-market electric cars are set to hit showrooms in select US cities next year, ushering in a new era of green vehicles.
The unveiling of electric and electric-hybrid vehicles will be regional, starting such states as California, New York, Texas and Washington, before becoming available across America. A second wave of electric vehicles is planned for 2012.
In all, nearly 20 new hybrid or electric cars are scheduled to make their debut in 2011, including the Volt from Chevrolet and the Leaf from Nissan. The hybrids are rated to run for up to 40 miles on electricity before the gasoline motor kicks in to power the battery, while the electric-only cars can travel 100 miles on a single charge.
