Syracuse, NY—A 35-year-old man was killed in an industrial accident at B&B Lumber in Dewitt early this morning. The deadly work-related accident occurred on Monday, February 7, 2011, at around 5:30 a.m., at 4800 Solvay Road, as reported by WSYR-TV.
According to police officials, Thomas Pelton, 35, of Camden was servicing a piece of equipment at B&B Lumber, when another employee started the machine Pelton was working on at the time. The other employee was unable to shut off the machinery before Pelton was killed.
It was not reported if Pelton was pronounced dead at the scene, or if he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment before succumbing to his fatal injuries.
Authorities said there were no other workers in the immediate area when the fatal work-related accident occurred.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived at the scene to conduct investigations.
