Rochester, WI– A fatal workplace accident at a Racine County recycling plant killed one worker who apparently became tangled in a piece of machinery. The fatal workplace accident occurred at a plant in Rochester for Kenosha-based Green 46 Recycling, sometime before 1 p.m., on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, reported the Chicago Tribune.
According to officials, Kyle Wene of West Allis was working on a conveyor belt, which is used to process asphalt shingles for recycling, when his clothing got caught on the belt and choked him.
Authorities were contacted about the death just before 1 p.m., after co-workers searched for Wene when they didn’t see him at lunch.
A full investigation into the workplace accident is underway. Investigators with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be reporting to the scene to conduct investigations.
An autopsy will also be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
