Detroit, MI—A fiery wreck on the city’s east side left six people injured, when a minivan lost control and became wedged under a pedestrian bridge. Several good Samaritans helped to pull the passengers from the burning vehicle on Interstate 94 at around 6:30 p.m., as reported by the Detroit News.
Michigan State Police reported that a minivan carrying seven people lost control and became stuck under a pedestrian bridge near Chatsworth, before bursting into flames. The collision ejected one person from the minivan, who ultimately had to have his arm amputated.
A 9-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were among the injured. Responding emergency crews rushed the victims to area hospitals for treatment.
Police officials reported that all six victims were related and were from Detroit. None of the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time.
A full investigation is underway.
