Chino Hills, CA—A woman was killed during a car repossession early Tuesday, March 1, 2011. The woman was crushed between her car and a tow truck outside of her home in the 5000 block of Monte Vista Avenue, reported KTLA.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that Lisa Via ran from her house, as the tow truck driver Leo Song was loading her Buick onto his tow truck. Song lost a visual of Via, as he began to pull the Buick out of the driver, and assumed she had stepped away from the vehicles.
Via’s husband then ran outside and alerted Song that his wife was stuck under the car.
Song grabbed a jack lift to hoist the car off of Via so they could pull her out to safety.
Responding emergency crews rushed Via to Chino Valley Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead at around 3:30 a.m.
There were no witnesses to the actual collision, so it is unknown at this time how Via was hit by her car.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Valley / Mountain Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is investigating the accident.
