Cambridge, MN — A Cambridge firefighter died Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2011, during a training exercise, which has been ruled an accident, reported MyFoxTwinCities.com.
According to authorities, 35-year-old Chip Imker of Harris fell while training for rope-rescue techniques. Imker plummeted about six to eight feet onto the concrete floor at the fire hall.
The accident reportedly took place after the training was completed.
The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office ruled Imker’s cause of death as blunt-force trauma. The death was ruled an accident.
Imker’s funeral is being held Saturday in the Cambridge-Isanti High School gym.
Investigations are underway.
