07/19/2011 // WPB, FL, USA // Personal Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Winslow, AZ — A small plane crash at the Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport claimed the lives of two off-duty Southern California police officers over the weekend. The fatal plane crash occurred Sunday morning, July 17, 2011, while the plane was trying to take off from the airport, reported the Los Angeles Times.

According to authorities, the two off-duty police officers identified as Brian Hayes, 35, and Nicole Anderson, 32, were preparing for takeoff from the airport in a single-engine, fixed-wing Mooney M20F airplane, when the plane rolled over.

It is not immediately known what caused the fatal plane crash.

Hayes was reportedly employed by an Anaheim police department, while Anderson worked for the Simi Valley Police Department at the time of the fatal plane crash.

Hayes and Anderson were reportedly dating.

Investigations into the plane crash are underway. Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are expected to look into the fatal plane crash as well.
