Hot Car Accident Kills Texas Toddler; Police Investigating

08/26/2011 // WPB, FL, USA // Personal Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Irving, TX — Police are calling the death of a Texas toddler an “accident,” after the child was left inside a hot car on Thursday, August 25, 201. Police were alerted of a missing boy just after 8 p.m., reported MyFoxDFW.com.

Police arrived at the child’s home, located in the 3900 block of Yellowstone Street, where they found Muaawiyah Roberts in the back of the family’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway.

Responding EMTs pronounced the 2-year-old boy dead after he was found unresponsive.

The official cause of death is currently unknown, but police believe he died from heat-related complications.

Preliminary investigations have led police officers to believe the death was “a very tragic accident.”

Muaawiyah’s family stated that they were unloading items from the SUV early Thursday afternoon, and some of the children were playing in and around the SUV and helping to bring items into the house. After everything was unloaded, the mother told her children to go inside and she closed the SUV.

When Muaawiyah’s mother couldn’t find him, she called police.

The toddler’s mother reportedly is a single parent with nine children, all ranging in age from 15 to 1. They had recently relocated from California to Texas.

Investigations into the toddler’s death are underway.
