Pooler, GA — An elderly woman is dead and several others were hospitalized after being sickened by fumes at a south Georgia McDonald’s. The Hazmat situation occurred Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at a McDonald’s in Pooler, reported CBS News.
According to Pooler police, emergency crews were called to the scene and found two customers unconscious inside the restaurant bathroom and others who were having trouble breathing.
Anne Felton, 80, of Ponte Verde, Fla., and nine other people were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Felton was pronounced dead early Thursday. It is unknown what led to her death. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death. She was reportedly at the fast-food chain with her husband at the time.
Initial reports indicated that employees may have been mixing cleaning chemicals at the time, but the Hazmat crew did not find any traces of chemicals.
Investigations into the incident are underway.
