Fort Bragg, NC — A parachuting accident injured two soldiers late Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2011. The accident occurred on Fort Bragg, while conducting an airborne training operation around 5 p.m., reported the FayObserver.com.
According to officials, the incident occurred during a scheduled training jump, but the details surrounding the accident are unclear.
The victims reportedly fell from over 1,000 feet in the air.
The two unidentified soldiers were medevacked to separate hospitals in the area for treatment of their injuries. They were unresponsive and required a breathing tube. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
One of the injured soldiers is assigned to special operations. It is unknown what unit the other soldier is assigned to.
This is the second parachuting accident to occur on Fort Bragg this year. On June 25, Staff Sgt. Jamal Clay died when his parachute malfunctioned during an 82nd Airborne Division training exercise.
Investigations are underway.
