CPSC: Drop-Side Cribs by Dutailier Group Recalled for Safety Risks

11/03/2011 // WPB, FL, USA // Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Dutailier Group Inc. are recalling 440 drop-side cribs for entrapment and fall hazards the defective products pose to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide recall on November 2, 2011.

The recall was issued after discovering that the slats on the drop side can detach from the top and bottom rails, which create a space between the slats that the body of an infant or toddler can become entrapped in. This poses a fall, suffocation and/or strangulation risk.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves full-size, drop-side wooden cribs with part numbers that begin with E1230C2, E3500C2, E3540C2, E5100C2, E5140C2, E5530C2, E9000C2 and E9100C2. The Dutailier logo and the part number can be found on labels on the inside of the end panels.”

Consumers are advised to contact the Dutailier Group for a free repair kit. Until a repair kit is received, parents should find other sleeping arrangements for their child.

For more information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact the Dutailier Group toll-free at (800) 363-9817 on Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET.
