On Sunday, November 6, 2011, the third passenger of an October helicopter crash in the East River died, according to information received by Manhattan aviation attorney, Jonathan C Reiter. Harriet Nicholson, 60, suffered from a near-drowning experience after the October helicopter crash, which eventually caused her death.

As New York City injury lawyer Jonathan C Reiter explains, the near drowning incident resulted in a shortage of oxygen to the brain. This shortage eventually lead to the victim’s death, according to the city medical examiner’s office.

On October 4, 2011, Mrs. Nicholson, her husband Paul Nicholson, her daughter, Sonia Marra and her daughter’s partner, Helen Tamaki, boarded a 1976 Bell 206 JetRanger helicopter. The group was celebrating Sonia Marra’s 40th birthday. The chopper was attempting to take off from the heliport and crashed just north of the landing pad off East 34th Street, according to previous reports received by Manhattan aviation attorney Jonathan C Reiter.

As Reiter previously reported, the accident occurred at approximately 3:30 pm and rescue teams retrieved the first drowning victim, Sonia Marra, by 4:40 pm. Marra died from shortage of oxygen to the brain as well, states New York City injury lawyer Jonathan C Reiter.

Manhattan aviation attorney Jonathan C Reiter explains the investigation into the crash continues, and is expected to continue for months to come. He explains that investigators found few clues immediately after the crash, as light rains and winds of 10-12 miles per hour were ongoing at the time of the accident.

New York City injury lawyer Jonathan C Reiter understands that airline crashes and private plane crashes are extremely traumatic, and often leave family members confused, stunned and overwhelmed. New York City aviation attorney Jonathan C Reiter has vast experience in helping victims and their families navigate through the aftermath.
