Scranton, PA — A lawsuit filed by a northeastern Pennsylvania woman alleges that she was wrongfully terminated from her job for wearing a prosthetic penis to work while contemplating a gender reassignment procedure. The civil rights lawsuit was filed Wednesday, January 11, 2012, against J&J Snack Foods Corp., on behalf of Pauline Davis, reported Fox News.
Davis claims that she was fired from her position as a line inspector at the snack food manufacturer in Moosic in 2010, after she revealed to co-workers that she was contemplating gender reassignment. Davis also revealed to co-workers that she had begun wearing a “prosthetic device” to work, the lawsuit revealed.
That information was reportedly passed along to management by the co-workers.
The lawsuit also asserted that Davis’ prosthetic device was “concealed and in no way interfered with the ability of (Ms. Davis) to do her job.” Furthermore, the lawsuit also alleges that another male employee at the plant had taken hormone treatments and wore “female prosthetic devices” and women’s clothing but was not fired or disciplined, The Times-Tribune reported.
