Kansas City, MO — Oregon® Replacement Lawnmower Blades by Blount International are being voluntarily recalled for laceration hazards posed by the lawnmowers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Blount International announced the nationwide product recall on January 25, 2012.
The lawnmowers were recalled after discovering that the replacement lawnmower blades can break during normal use, which poses a laceration hazard to the user and bystanders.
“This recall involves Blount lawnmower replacement blades for Ariens 48-inch lawnmowers. The replacement blades are sold under the Oregon® brand name. ‘Oregon®,’ part number ‘91-003’ and ‘PA’ or ‘PJ’ are printed on the surface of the recalled blades,” reported the CPSC.
Consumers are advised to return the blades to the place of purchase, or directly to Blount for a free replacement.
