Marine Corps Identify Those Killed in Midair Helicopter Crash

02/27/2012 // WPB, FL, USA // Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

San Diego, CA — The identities of the seven Marines killed in a midair helicopter collision in a sprawling desert range, marking one of the Corps’ deadliest aviation training accidents in years, have been released, Fox News reports.

The Marine Corps released the names late Friday, February 24, 2012, of those killed in the deadly aviation accident near Yuma, Arizona. The deceased were identified as:

Maj. Thomas A. Budrejko, 37, of Montville, Conn.; Capt. Michael M. Quin, 28, of Purcellville, Va.; Capt. Benjamin N. Cerniglia, 31, of Montgomery, Ala.; Sgt. Justin A. Everett, 33, of Clovis, Calif.; Lance Cpl. Corey A. Little, 25, of Marietta, Ga; Lance Cpl. Nickoulas H. Elliott, 21, of Spokane, Wash. and Capt. Nathan W. Anderson, 32, of Amarillo, Texas.

Anderson was based in Yuma, while the others were based in Camp Pendleton in Southern California. All the Marines were part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

According to reports, an AH-1W Super Cobra and a UH-IY Super Huey were training during a routine training mission called Scorpion Fire, in part for preparations for deployment, when the accident occurred around 8 p.m. a few miles from the Yuma Training Range complex in the Chocolate Mountains, as previously reported in “Seven Marines Killed in Midair Helicopter Crash over California.”

Investigations into the helicopter accident could take weeks, according to officials.
