Philadelphia Pastor Jomo K. Johnson New Book Seeks to Prove the Negative Effects of the Philosophy of Rap Star
/EINPresswire.com/(Philadelphia, PA- March 4th, 2011) – DEADEST RAPPER ALIVE: The Rise of Lil’ Wayne and the Downfall of Urban Youth: The new book by Pastor Jomo K. Johnson, titled Deadest Rapper Alive: The Rise of Lil Wayne and the Fall of Urban Youth. With more than 100 references, the tome is part bio, part thesis, part indictment. It is directed at teens, parents, and young adults.
After starting his Philly Open Air Church in Urban North Philadelphia in the Fall of 2010, Johnson began to notice how a large portion of teenage urban black males were infatuated with Lil’ Wayne in an almost cult-like devotion. After noticing some very disturbing sexual and behavioral patterns in these youth, Johnson began an examination of the factors in their lives that were contributing to teens use and practice of prostitution, prepubescent sex, and extreme cruelty and bullying. The common factor found was that there teens were immersed in the music, message, and mantra of Rap Star Lil Wayne.
In the book, Johnson notes the unparalleled lyrical talent that has brought Lil Wayne worldwide fame and fortune. But over the rhythms and melodies, Johnson is grieved by the 29-year-old deadlocked rapper’s references to misogynistic rape, prostitution, drug use, gun violence, and what Johnson calls a God complex. And in his hapless neighborhood, he says youth cling to every word and are imitating the lyrics of their Rap-God-Idol.

Endorsement
“Jomo Johnson has done his research. There are millions of youth being led astray by today’s media and pop culture and many of them even come from Christian homes. So many parents and church leaders are clueless to the radical shifts that are happening right under our noses. Jomo helps open our eyes to one of our culture’s largest influences “Lil’ Wayne”. The book gives some great insights on his life, his effects and what we can do to reverse the fall of urban youth around the world.”
