Man, 69, Pinned by Roofing Equipment at Zeeland Township Construction Site

03/15/2012 // WPB, FL, USA // Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Zeeland Township, MI — A 69-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after roofing material pinned him at a Zeeland construction site. The work-related accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 759 Construction Court, reported Wood TV.

According to reports, 69-year-old Robert Gray of Fairbanks, Ind., was delivering a truckload of heavy roofing materials to the site when the accident occurred.

Several 400-pound rolls of the roofing material reportedly broke loose from the forklift that was unloading the material, which hit and pinned Gray to the ground.

The forklift driver came to Gray’s aid by using the forklift to remove the material from on top of Gray.

Responding emergency crews rushed Gray to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to his head and leg. Gray was listed in stable condition as of Tuesday night.

It’s unknown what caused the material to break free while it was being transported.

Investigations are underway.
