Essex, VT — A work-related accident killed a Vermont Electric Cooperative line worker when he fell onto live electrical wires on Wednesday, March 21, 2011. The fatal work-related accident occurred on Sawmill Road in Essex, around 1:20 p.m., the Burlington Free-Press reported.
Essex police reported that Bruce Lamb, 56, of Waterville, was doing routine maintenance when he fell onto nearby electrical wires.
Police and fire rescue personnel were alerted of a man hanging from electrical wires, who then rushed to the scene and found Lamb unconscious.
Lamb had suffered electrical burns in the accident, and did not survive.
The cause of his death, or what caused Lamb to fall into the power lines are unknown at this time.
Vermont Electric Cooperative CEO David Hallquist told the Burlington Free-Press: “On behalf of Vermont Electric Cooperative, I extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of our employee… We are deeply saddened by this loss.”
Investigations are ongoing.
