New York, NY — The seemingly cursed Broadway production “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” is facing yet another legal woe. A “Spidey” stuntman who was injured during a stunt has filed court papers for information about the death-defying stunts, possibly indicating that a lawsuit is imminent, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The stuntman, Richard Kobak asserts that he was left with whiplash, a concussion and herniated discs in his back after an aerial acrobatics stunt went wrong. Kobak slammed into a wall face-first.
Kobak also claims that the production was slow to take action to fix safety equipment.
Since the show opened in June, it has experienced several accidents that resulted in crash landings that injured about a half dozen performers during rehearsals and previews.
The production is also facing a lawsuit from the show’s original director and co-creator, Julie Taymor. In Taymor’s lawsuit, she is suing producers for copyright issues.
