/EINPresswire.com/ Brianna Ladapo, a Nia instructor and fitness guru, is excited about the strides that such technology has made. As a result, she is urging fitness enthusiasts and novices alike to take advantage of the technological resources at their disposal.
Jason O’Grady recently reviewed the Nike+ FuelBand, a “wearable fitness computer” that keeps track of the physical activity in which a person participates. Powered by Apple technology, this product is the brainchild of two of the most trusted brands in their respective fields. Big names aside, O’Grady reports that the product is a wonderful starting point for computer-powered fitness technology. Brianna Ladapo agrees, urging individuals to use today’s cutting-edge fitness gadgets to monitor their progress.
A wristband, the Nike+ FuelBand tracks a person’s movement throughout the day. This movement is recorded as a “NikeFuel score,” which is a measurement based upon the amount of movement a person conducts and the amount of oxygen they consume. Additionally, the score considers the number of steps a person takes and the number of calories that they burn throughout the day. Although it is not an exact measurement, as O’Grady notes that there are many modifications that need to be made in order to create a reliable report of physical activity, it is a useful tool for individuals looking to compare their physical activity from one day to the next.
One major flaw in the design, according to O’Grady, is the fact that the wristband cannot account for full body motion. He cites cycling as an example, stating that the wristband will remain static while the legs continually pedal to push the bike along. In such a case, the energy burned through the activity of the lower body is not taken into account.
Despite the few flaws, Brianna Ladapo believes that this breakthrough technology is a step in the right direction. Not only does she encourage people to utilize such technological resources, she urges them to compare their activity from one day to the next. If the goal of a fitness regimen is to improve one’s level of physical activity, then this wristband is a great tool.
“Nike FuelBand is a genius little invention,” commented Brianna Ladapo. “It’s unobtrusive, easy to use, easy to hide, and the corresponding app is even free! With tracking your fitness made this easy, who wouldn’t want to start keeping track and comparing notes… or even start a little friendly competition with a fitness buddy?”
