Texas – Texas driver’s license applicants will now see changes in the requirements for obtaining a license. As reported by CBSDFW.com, the state has adopted a new law, effective this week, that will require applicants to show proof of Texas residency for at least 30 days.

Tom Vinger, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, is quoted in the report as stating of the new requirements, “These residency documents will be on top of the standard requirements that are necessary already to obtain a license or identification card.”

Vinger is further quoted as stating, “The acceptable documents showing residency include an applicants name and address… And there’s also an affidavit process for people, for example high school kids who are living with their parents, and may not be able to provide these documents.”
