Rhys W. Powell, President & Founder of Red Rabbit and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses graduate, will be a featured speaker on a panel discussing job creation and economic development through public and private partnerships. He will be joined by Dina H. Powell, President, The Goldman Sachs Foundation and Letty Vélez, President & CEO, Chicago Mini Bus Travel. The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative has partnered with a network of community colleges and community development financial institutions (CDFIs) to provide small businesses with greater access to a practical business education, capital, and business support services.
Red Rabbit is a NYC-based healthy school meal provider to the NY metro area. Their kid-tested and approved menu, farm fresh and locally sourced food, interactive educational programs and easy to implement delivery system make it a favorite for schools, educators and parents looking for good nutritional and healthy food options for their students and children.
“Currently, we are serving more than 10,000 made from scratch meals and snacks a day to kids all over the New York metro area,” Rhys Powell says. “We are fixing the school food system—one community at a time.”
Red Rabbit is changing the system in three ways: Firstly, by partnering with local schools and providing them kid-tested, fresh, customized healthy meal programs. Secondly, by partnering with local farmers, suppliers and artisans to optimize the nutritional value of all of meals, to sustainability and to support and grow the local economy. Thirdly, by educating kids, teachers, families and communities about wellness, nutrition and healthy eating choices so they can make the right decisions for themselves when not in school. And the best is…this is all done at or below the current Federal reimbursement level.
