/EINPresswire.com/Tampa Divorce attorney Christian Denmon from Denmon & Denmon Trial Lawyers recently resolved a divorce case against a wife seeking alimony and disability benefits of her military husband.
The couple had been married eight years, then decided to get a divorce. The husband was in the military prior to meeting his wife, and remained in the military when they were married. He receives monthly military disability benefits for a service-related disability that occurred while on active duty.
The wife, on the other hand, was voluntarily under-employed. She asked for half of the husband’s military disability benefits, all of the assets accumulated during the course of their marriage, and permanent alimony.
The husband then sought the assistance of Tampa military divorce lawyer Christian Denmon from Denmon & Denmon Trial Lawyers. The settlement was negotiated before mediation. The husband is to pay no alimony and to give up no percentage of his disability benefit. There was an unequal distribution of assets in favor of the husband.
When asked if military divorces are more complex than civilian divorces Denmon said
“People in the military face the same family law related issues as their civilian counterparts. The difference is financially people in the military will often have pensions and other benefits that are more complex and valuable than their civilian counterparts”. He adds:
“Military divorce child relocation cases are also complicated due to the corresponding Military Leave Statute. Bottom line is it’s always a good idea to seek the counsel of a divorce lawyer experienced with Florida military divorce law”.
