/EINPresswire.com/ Online retailer Smart Candle’s full collection of flameless candles allows for seasonal summer decorating without the increased fire hazard that conventional candles bring to the home and backyard area.
As the summer heat wave continues across the United States, many people will be holding summer barbeques, backyard parties, picnics, and even weddings. As these events stretch on to the evening and nighttime, many hosts will break out candles to give the party area ambiance, without considering what a fire hazard these present.
“At summer parties, people have been drinking, kids are running around, everyone’s relaxed. This is exactly the kind of situation where an unattended candle can turn into a fire. It really only takes one careless person to knock over one open flame, and a full blaze can ignite,” said Josh Kutzler, a spokesperson for Smart Candle. “Smart Candles are priced in the same range as regular candles, plus they are re-usable. It’s hard to understand why anyone wouldn’t use our product instead of a conventional candle, and enjoy more peace of mind.”
Smart Candle offers flameless candles in many sizes, ranging from small votive candles to large pillars. Flameless candles are battery powered and use light emitting diode (LED) technology to give the look of being lit. Many of these candles also come in rechargeable models, allowing the consumer to keep them for many years and maximize savings.
The National Fire Prevention Organization (NFPA), a non-profit organization that seeks to reduce fire hazards and educate the public on fire safety, recommends the use of flameless candles in and around the home. The NFPA reports that one fire started by the use of a conventional candle is reported to the fire department every 40 minutes. More than half of these fires begin when candles are placed too close to flammable objects. Luckily, Smart Candle’s flameless candles are designed for indoor or outdoor use, meaning they can be brought inside and re-used at summer’s end.
“Unfortunately, many decorative elements that incorporate a place for a candle are not checked for safety. Things like wall sconces, candelabras, candle holders, and lanterns are meant to hang on a wall, or sit on a side table. Once a candle has been inserted into one of these decorative elements, it is like a ticking time bomb,” Kutzler said. “A Smart Candle allows you to obtain decorative effect of a candle, without any of the stress.”
