“I Hate Earth” Webseries creator Kevin Conn Sits Down to Talk About The Launch of His New Series with InterFACE
/EINPresswire.com/ What superhero fan hasn’t thought for a moment what it would be like if their favorite hero and villain were forced to cohabitate in the same vicinity? Comedian and producer Kevin Conn is here to make that idle thought a hilarious reality with his new web-series, “I Hate Earth”. “I Hate Earth” is an interesting and amusing take on the lives of two warriors, hero Dirk Dogstar, and evil warlord Beatrix Skullo (played by Conn), who were banished from their prospective planets and sent to live on Earth. Bound by their equally depressing fates, the series follows these two very opposite characters as they are now living together in a Queens, NY apartment. Irony and hilarity ensue as these two intergalactic stars tackle everyday “Earth-like” subjects such as texting and dating through very different outlooks. Kevin recently sat down to talk with the writers at InterFACE, a talent marketing company that is the authority on breaking aspiring talent into the industry. InterFACE is proud to offer their client base a variety of news and interviews with the entertainment’s industry’s most creative talent.
Conn came up with the concept for “I Hate Earth” after the slightly unexpected and very welcome success of his first webseries “Unemployed Skeletor”, which was a series that detailed the shenanigans and events in the life of the He-Man villain Skeletor. The series became an instant viral hit, and even gained the praise of the Mattel media franchise ‘Masters of the Universe’. After this impressive first foray into webseries production, Conn decided he wanted to create a series with his close colleagues that would be a basic show with a comedic presence, with May 30th, 2012 marking the official launch for “I Hate Earth”. “The key to trying to break into the industry is to be as professional as you can,” says Conn, “we wanted the episodes to be perfect.”
Kevin’s background derives from theater acting, and he also honed his humor skills with his time as a stand up comedian. After he began working in webseries he began to make friends with other talented actors like Jon Hoche (Dirk Dogstar) and Erica Swindell, who are co-stars in “I Hate Earth”. “[Jon] is a geek like me,” says Conn, “He’s a great comedic actor who really brought a lot to the show; and when I met his fiancee Erica she was also hysterical.” In creating the series, Conn set about his plan to make a show that could stand-alone and continue to build interest with a target audience, while maintaining the ability to expand in several different forms. After seeing these hilarious episodes, fans will be salivating to learn more about these quirky characters, including their back story and how they ended up in their current circumstances. The first episode “Dinner of Doom”, details the two main characters bickering over common roommate annoyances such as chewing noises, and bathroom etiquette.
For aspiring talent researching how to become an actor, try creating your own acting jobs by producing a webseries. Kevin’s advice to those looking to get into making webseries? “Plan, plan, plan, and when you think you’ve planned enough, you haven’t planned enough.”Conn also is a big advocate for working with a team that you can rely on and trust. “It’s also never a good idea to rush a project,” explains Kevin, “When you put your name out there it goes out to the entire world, you want to make sure that it’s right.”
