Help the environment and ensure print cartridges get recycled, says BT BD

Minimising the impact that printing documents has on the environment, and recycling in general, have become major concerns for many of BT Business Direct‘s customers – from the smallest sole traders to the largest multi-national organisations.

By sourcing printing consumables from the industry’s most environmentally-aware and socially responsible manufacturers, BT Business Direct provides its customers with the reassurance that the goods they purchase will not only be of the highest quality, but will also have minimal impact on the planet.

A blog post by BT Business Direct, which focused on the pros and cons of using original and re-manufactured toner cartridges, discovered that to maintain an acceptable level of quality, many re-manufactured cartridges will in reality only go through the process once before reaching the end of their useful life.

But it is the lengths that leading printer and consumables manufacturers such as HP go to to keep their original products out of landfill that set them apart. HP’s Planet Partners programme ensures all of its cartridges can be returned for recycling at no cost to the customer.

Jade Tomlinson, Category Manager at BT Business Direct, said: “It has been well documented that using cheap, sub-standard ink and toner cartridges will most likely lead to faded and unreadable printouts that have to be thrown out. The company is faced with further expense and the environment loses out as more paper is needed so the documents can be printed again.

“With original cartridges, such as those manufactured by HP, firms can count on getting a quality product that will produce consistently good results, meaning fewer sheets of paper get wasted. And schemes such as HP’s free recycling programme ensure old cartridges do not end up in landfill.”

BT Business Direct sells a wide range of printers and multi-function units from the top manufacturers including HP witha large selection of consumables also being available online..
