/EINPresswire.com/Emerging Solutions in Pain applauds FDA for education to health care professionals on safe and effective use of extended-release and long-acting opioids
Emerging Solutions in Pain (ESP) applauds the recent FDA action to increase the provision of education and resources on the safe and effective use of extended-release and long-acting opioids to health care professionals involved in pain management as well as to their patients.
ESP was launched in 2005 with a leading cadre of pain management experts to address some of the most critical issues in pain management. ESP also works in partnership with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine, St. Louis University, and other key pain associations to extend the distribution of pain education across the largest number of health care providers possible.
As a forerunner in providing robust, value-added and award-winning pain education in an array of convenient multimedia formats, ESP has shown that physicians who participate in ESP CME activities are more likely to practice evidence-based care than those physicians who do not participate. Increased education and resources to both pain clinicians and patients can minimize the risks that are often associated with opioids and improve clinical outcomes.
Specifically, ESP provides the following:
ESP Patient Education Series
A collection of 14 Fact Sheets to assist pain management clinicians in educating their patients on the rationale and use of assessment, monitoring, and documentation of their chronic pain.
ESP Free Continuing Education
A multimedia collection of continuing education programs focusing on patient assessment for the risk of opioid misuse, abuse and addiction, patient monitoring throughout the treatment plan, and best practices for clinicians to optimize pain patient care.
ESP will soon be launching a revised comprehensive tool kit resource to assist pain management clinicians with assessing, monitoring, and protecting their practices. It offers modules, tools, guidelines, as well as additional information to assist in monitoring and managing the benefits and risks of opioid therapy.
Joan Meyer, president of MediCom Worldwide stated, “The recent AMA survey which showed that physician demand for online continuing medical education (CME) training is high, with 84% of physicians surveyed preferring to attend CME event highlights. ESP is delivering this clinician-based education in the most valued virtual formats for maximum reach and learning.”
