Phoenix Spine Surgeon, Issada Thongtrangan, MD, joins Valley Orthopedics with fellowships in both Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Spine surgery and the highest level of training in neck and back surgery. His specialties include complex spinal reconstruction, scoliosis, tumor and revision surgery for patients who have undergone previous spinal surgery without success.
In June of this year, Valley Orthopedics welcomed Dr. Issada Thongtrangan to their practice’s facilities in Phoenix and Goodyear. Dr. Thongtrangan completed his fellowship at the world-renowned Stanford University Medical center and has extensive experience in complex spine cases as well as revision surgery. His additional fellowship in Orthopedic Spine was completed at the prestigious Texas Back Institute and allowed him the opportunity to focus on minimally invasive techniques and artificial disc replacement.
With increasing concerns about rising insurance costs, physician accessibility, and outcomes, Dr. Thongtrangan is very conscious of the recommendations he makes to patients. He is a compassionate physician with a patient-centered practice, employing the “family test” in his practice, never recommending treatments he would not recommend to his own family.
Dr. Thongtrangan states, “I strive to provide my patients with the best advice possible about their spine concerns. I evaluate each patient and their situation carefully and make treatment recommendations based on their goals, preferences and what is medically in their best interest.” Surgery is only recommended when necessary, typically as a last resort option, and minimally invasive surgeries are performed to improve recovery times, preserve motion and help limit insurance costs. Due to his excellent patient care, surgical and teaching skills, while at the esteemed Medical College of Virginia, he was given the ‘Best Resident Award’.
Shellie Clayton, Practice Administrator, recently stated about the addition of Dr. Thongtrangan, “We are excited to have Dr. T joining us here at Valley Orthopedics. He will be an integral part of what Valley Orthopedics offers to the community, and we are thrilled to be able to help patients in need of revisions, injections, hardware blocks, disc replacements, fusions or even those just in search of a second opinion on spine surgery…”
Dr. Thongtrangan is currently accepting new patients at the North Mountain and Goodyear locations.
