Los Angeles – The city of Los Angeles is reportedly planning to charge the families of two people who were killed while trying to help a car crash victim for ambulance fees. As reported by Yahoo! News, the families of Irma Zamora and Stacey Schreiber, who were electrocuted while attempting to go to the scene of a car crash, are expected to be billed for the fees, which are estimated to be $1,000 per person following their Aug 22 deaths.

The two women were reportedly electrocuted after a broken streetlight fixture made contact with water emitted from a broken fire hydrant near where the accident occurred. Others injured in the incident are expected to be billed as well.

City Councilman Paul Krekorian, who is purportedly planning to raise funds for the families of the victims, is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “No one who puts themselves in harm’s way should have to struggle to pay the bills that accrue as a result of their altruism.”
