/EINPresswire.com/ The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) has launched European Cyber Security Month this October. Their aim is to increase knowledge of Network and Information Security (NIS) issues and to modify perceptions of threats for citizens and businesses across Europe.
Throughout the month, ENISA will be sharing data security information, educational material, good NIS practices and giving opportunities to take part in competitions.
Whilst visiting a number of countries throughout October (Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain), ENISA hopes to “strengthen the fight against cyber crime at an international level”. The full list of events for the month of October is now available online: www.enisa.europa.eu/activities/cert/security-month/pilots/2012-events-calendar.
To coincide with the European Cyber Security Month, IT Governance (the European governance, risk management and compliance experts) have published a white paper on cyber security, which is now available to download from www.itgovernance.eu/t-iso27001.aspx.
The white paper contains information on the European Strategy for Internet Security, Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), cyber crime and how to protect your business from cyber risks.
Alan Calder, CEO of IT Governance and author of this paper reveals, “With its advanced Internet infrastructure, Europe is a key target for cyber crime. Therefore businesses need to take steps to protect themselves against threats before it is too late. As cyber security experts ourselves, we recommend reading the ISO27001 standard, staff-awareness training, and ultimately becoming ISO 27001 compliant.”
The complimentary white paper is available to download from IT Governance. More information can be found around cyber security and other IT governance issues from the main IT Governance website.
